For Travability readers, hotels are usually the most consequential party of the stay. It is, after all, where the most time is spent on trips.

Beyond that, it’s important to be able to get to a destination’s attractions. We give preference to hotels that are centrally located within a destination and the most walkable to attractions. Beyond that, we look for ones that allow for as little effort as possible for accessing in-house amenities.

For example, if a destination’s main draw is a beach, beachfront hotels will likely be our most recommended locations. Of those beachfront hotels, more recognition will be given to those that have easier access to the beach, more in-house amenities, and overall comfort–including wifi speed, room quality, number of accessible rooms, etc.

In-house amenities are important for a few reasons. As long as they are quality options comparable to local bars, restaurants, and spas among other things, staying as close to home as possible makes a hotel more travable for our readers. A lot of our focus, therefore, will be on recommending where readers should stay.

At this time, we don’t focus on Airbnb or other vacation home rental options – as they don’t tend to have the infrastructure to provide travable options to our readers en masse.
