San Antonio is among the United States’ most travable™ destinations.

For a city with a Riverwalk counted as a top-25-most visited tourist attraction on earth, the competition for most travable™ hotel can be fierce. Many hotels in San Antonio are located with direct access to the city’s Riverwalk with countless more a block or two away. While the overnight options are many, due to its restaurants, amenities, and proximity to attractions, none of the city’s hotels do travable™ quite like the the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk.

A Central Location

This Hyatt is sandwiched right between San Antonio’s biggest attractions: the Riverwalk and the Alamo, making it an ideal spot for your stay.

Being literally on the Riverwalk gives guests direct access to all the dining options (on the outer side of the Riverwalk. If you have wheels, in order to get to the other side, you’ll have to take an elevator to the street, cross a bridge, then take another elevator down).

The Alamo is one block away and a travable™ destination in and of itself. You won’t need to spend a lot of time there, but it is a must-attend for any visitor to the city.

The infamous Alamo is only a block away from the Hyatt Regency.

Beyond that, attractions like Ripley’s Believe it or Not!, the Menger Bar–a bar previously voted as a top-10 most historic bars in the country that counts former U.S. presidents as its guests–, the convention center, Tower of the Americas, Alamodome, and more are all very close.

Many Amenities

The hotel is almost a destination in and of itself. We had drinks at the main bar, listened to live music, got massages at the spa, bought a San Antonio-themed jacket for an unseasonably cold morning, and enjoyed fresh oysters all at separate places within the establishment.

Chris from Dasa Spa on the Riverwalk–located within the hotel–deserves a special shoutout. The massage therapist specializes in working with people whose muscles may have certain issues and did a great job working Jarrod’s legs and feet to achieve more range of motion. If you go to the spa, ask for Chris!

Dining Options

San Antonio has a million places to eat and we recommend trying every last one, but the options in the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk can keep you busy for a full day.

On top of Q bar on the main floor, there’s a famous pizza food truck outside called Sauced on Losoya and a seafood restaurant called On the Bend Oyster Lounge and Bar.

There’s also Mad Dogs British Pub attached to the hotel right along the Riverwalk, which is accessible via a wheelchair elevator.

It’s clear the hotel has gone above and beyond to cater to its guests with limited mobility, and its management expressed that to us.

“We are proud to say the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk is fully ADA compliant and that we offer amenities to make each stay as comfortable and convenient as possible,” hotel General Manager Phil Stamm says. “We currently offer four luxurious room types that provide an open space layout, roll-in showers, accessible tubs, and horn and strobe life safety features. We also offer wheelchair access to our pool with a lift provided on the pool deck, and accessible dining at our Q Bar and MKT Place.”

In all, if you’re looking to stay in San Antonio, we can’t recommend a more travable™ hotel than Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk.
